3 Day Region Highlights Itinerary
To get the most out of visiting Nelson Tasman plan a minimum three-night stay. You'll be able to experience the Abel Tasman National Park, great seafood, wine and craft beers and view the great range of artists and galleries and easy cycling trails.
Day 1: Arrive in Nelson mid afternoon. Visit World of Wearable Art & Classic Car Museum. For adventurous visitors, schedule in a few hours at Happy Valley Adventures or go for a bush walk in the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary.
Day 2: A highlight in the region is a trip out into the Abel Tasman National Park. Take a full-day cruise with Abel Tasman Seashuttle, Wilsons Abel Tasman or Abel Tasman Aqua Taxi. For a relaxing sailing experience consider a trip with Abel Tasman Sailing Adventures.
Day 3: A third day will allow you time to explore and experience some of the great food, wine and craft beer on offer. Include a short, long or overnight cycling trip on Tasman's Great Taste Trail with Wheelie Fantastic Cycle Tours or the Gentle Cycling Co.
Learn more about Nelson's art and heritage precinct and visit historic South Street, Christ Church Cathedral, Jens Hansen Gold & Silversmith Jeweller, Flame Daisy Studio, Craig Potton Photography Gallery, World of Wearable Art & Classic Car Museum, NZ Classic Motorcycle Museum, Queens Garden, Melrose House, Isel House, Broadgreen House and Miyazu Gardens. Finish the day with the breathtaking 1.6km Skywire flying fox ride at Happy Valley Adventures or indulge in some great retail therapy or relax at Tahunanui Beach.
Enjoy a cruise, kayak or hike in one of NZ's scenic national parks, the Abel Tasman National Park. There's plenty of options to do guided trips with Abel Tasman Kayaks, Abel Tasman Aqua Taxi, Abel Tasman Seashuttle or Wilsons Abel Tasman. Or, take a helicopter trip over the Abel Tasman National Park and hire a charter yacht or sailing catamaran for a more personal experience.
Experience a day out in the Moutere Valley and Mapua visiting wineries, craft breweries and art galleries. Options to self-drive or join a guided tour. For something more adventurous or active hire a cycle to bike the Great Taste Trail or get the adrenalin pumping and do a Skydive over the Abel Tasman National Park.
