Nelson Airport is one of the country's busiest regional airports with up to 400 flights in and out per week, direct between six destinations throughout New Zealand.
Nelson Tasman is fortunate to have four airlines servicing the region. Air New Zealand flies multiple services daily between the region and the three main city centres of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Sounds Air and Originair offer flights between Nelson Tasman and Palmerston North, Wellington and Paraparaumu. Golden Bay Air offers scenic and scheduled flights around the region and beyond. For up-to-date flight information visit the Nelson Airport website.
Nelson City is only a short 15-minute drive from Nelson Airport and the airport is well serviced to get you where you need to be once you arrive. Nelson City Taxis can take care of all your travel arrangements, whether that be transport to and from the airport and booking your accommodation or suggesting fun and exciting attractions around the region. There are also a number of self-drive rental car options or private drivers if you prefer for someone else to be doing the navigating, six of which operate from the airport and can have a vehicle waiting for you when you arrive.
Following a $32 million terminal redevelopment, the Airport is well poised to cater to further growth of the Nelson Tasman region’s economy, visitors and residents. The new terminal design is modular, flexible and focuses strongly on enhancing the travel experience, with more seating, lounges, retail spaces, carparking and food and beverage options.
